I come from Nanjing, China, which is a historical city in my country. "Nan" in Chinese means "South" and it is contrary to "Bei". "Jing" means "Capital". Therefore, "Nanjing" just means "Capital in the South". Got it? Actually, it has been the capital of six dynasties in China.
