- I am trying to run Mathematica through x11 on a mac, OS X v10.5.6, and the fonts are not displaying correctly (i.e. square brackets "[ ]" instead show up on my screen as "@ D").
- When starting up, Mathematica displays an error message that says "STARTUP ERROR: The Mathematica fonts are not properly installed in your system. Without these fonts, typeset mathematical expressions cannot be displayed properly." After clicking CONTINUE, Mathematica then displays: "STARTUP WARNING: Unable to find font with family Mathematica1, weight Plain, slant Plain, and size 12. Substituting Courier." After this message, Mathmatica then opens and seems to run correctly, besides the messed up fonts.
- Anyone have an idea about how to fix this font problem? Jel28 18:52, 3 March 2009 (EST)
- For windows people, you can get the mathematica fonts from StarNet or Wolfram. Mac people can get them from Wolfram. DukeEgr93 21:44, 4 March 2009 (EST)
