This wiki was started by Michael R. Gustafson in June of 2008 as a standalone version of work that was done on Duiki (now Duke Wiki) - the Duke University Wiki - that was started by Andrew Tutt. The purposes of having a standalone site are to:
- Separate the narrow focus of most of the content of the Pratt Wiki from the broad nature of Duke Wiki,
- Host the site at a location funded by Pratt faculty and or staff rather than undergraduate students, and
- Allow for limiting the access rights to certain pages, which is not in keeping with the more open nature of Duke Wiki.
